Neuroscience, Mental Health and Addictions Take Centre Stage at Issues of Substance 2009
HALIFAX, November 17, 2009 – The Canadian Centre on Substance Abuse (CCSA) today announced that Issues of Substance (IOS) 2009—Canada’s biennial national conference on substance abuse—will look at the role of neuroscience, mental health and addictions and how research, treatment, and educational systems must evolve to effectively treat concurrent disorders.

Issues of Substance 2009 Explores the Role of Substance Abuse Treatment Through a National Treatment Strategy in Canada
HALIFAX, November 16, 2009 – The Canadian Centre on Substance Abuse (CCSA) today announced that it will open Issues of Substance (IOS) 2009, Canada’s biennial conference on substance abuse, with a focus on the role of treatment systems. More than 13 sessions will examine the role of treatment from a variety of perspectives, including the Models of Care project in the UK, the National Treatment Strategy in Canada (NTS) and case study and research presentations reviewing the effectiveness of a variety of integrated programs in Canada.

Issues of Substance 2009 Takes a Closer Look at Drug-impaired Driving in Canada
HALIFAX, November 15, 2009 – The Canadian Centre on Substance Abuse today announced that the issue of drug-impaired driving in Canada will take centre stage at an Issues of Substance (IOS) 2009 special session on November 15 at the World Trade and Convention Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Issues of Substance 2009 to Explore the Role of Prevention and Treatment In Reducing the Prevalence of Substance Abuse in Canada

OTTAWA, November 11, 2009 – The Canadian Centre on Substance Abuse (CCSA) is pleased to announce that over 100 experts in the field of substance abuse will present to an audience of more than 500 attendees at this year’s Issues of Substance (IOS) conference next week, November 15–18, at the World Trade and Convention Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
