- Drug-Impaired Driving in Canada: Implications for Prevention and Treatment
Sunday, November 15, 2009 from 1:30-4:30 p.m.
This pre-conference session will provide an overview of the drugs and driving problem in Canada, actions being taken by the criminal justice system to address the problem, and potential implications for the treatment system. It will explain the Drug Evaluation and Classification (DEC) program created for law enforcement personnel to detect drug-impaired drivers, discuss recent research supporting the scientific basis of DEC, and examine approaches for prevention and treatment. - National Networking Session on Women’s Treatment Policy and Practice
Sunday, November 15, 2009 from 1:30-5:00 p.m.
This pre-conference session will provide an opportunity to share, celebrate, and assess practice, treatment and policy measures for women’s substance use services and supports. The session aims to strengthen these pathways to ensure a distinct focus on women in the future. This networking opportunity will examine how to support women’s specific health issues and culturally diverse needs in addiction, prevention, and treatment services through discussions focused on: building innovative and collaborative partnerships; creating and supporting policy changes and developments; and investigating complementary/experiential approaches.
