One-time financial subsidies of up to $1,000 have been made available for 10 participants to assist with conference expenses, including travel and hotel costs.
To qualify for a subsidy:
- The applicant must be working or volunteering in the alcohol/drugs field in Canada and be affiliated with a not-for-profit organization or community group.
- The applicant must submit a written request (maximum 250 words) providing specific information on his/her area of work or interest, organizational objectives, and the reason (financial need) for requesting the subsidy. The applicant must also provide details on how this learning experience will be shared with other people in the organization.
- The applicant must provide a letter of support from his/her organization.
Applicants are to email their written requests for subsidy, along with their letter of support, to
IOSsubsidies@ccsa.ca.
All requests for subsidies will be reviewed by the IOS Ethics Advisory Committee. In addition to the criteria noted above, preference may be given to applicants who live in geographically remote regions or at a considerable distance from Vancouver (the IOS 2011 conference venue) and/or to those that have personal experience with recovery.
Payment Terms
Payment of approved subsidies will be made following the conference. Subsidy recipients will be required to submit an expense claim to CCSA with valid, original receipts. All expenses claimed must be in line with current Treasury Board guidelines, which will be provided to subsidy recipients. Expenses will be reimbursed to a maximum of $1,000. Subsidies will not be provided before the conference.
